Winter is a
great time to plant palm trees. This is the time of year that palm trees are
generating roots and the crown is dormant. By planting at this time of year
and proper fertilization, the palms will be ready to grow in the spring. We
are distributors of Lutz Palm Tree Fertilizer spikes, a great and simple way
to keep your palms and sagos healthy.
Fertilizer. It's time to Fertilize. Your palms can't live on
water alone. Palm trees need a couple of micro-nutrients that are not found
at high enough levels in our soil. Manganese and magnesium are very important
in the health of palms. We sell "Palm Tree Fertilizer Spikes" that
work very well and just about as simple to use as it can get. Take the
recommended number of spikes out to your palm tree, drive them in the ground
with a hammer and you’re done.
We are happy
to ship you the spikes that you need, just give us a call or drop us an
email. more info is on our fertilizer page.
Bananas. We are proud to make available Musa Basjoo Banana
plants. These bananas are commonly referred to as Cold Hardy Bananas. I have
had these in my yard for the past eight years and they have produced fruit.

Cold Hardy Hibiscus. We have tested these plants for the past three years
with fantastic results. These Hibiscus are perennials and very cold hardy.
They die back in the winter and come on like gangbusters in late spring. In
our test garden, we were amazed by the sheer number of blossoms that bloomed
on the plants. Hundreds would be a major understatement. We will have these
plants available for planting in May 2009. Their flowers come in a variety of
colors, Red, White, Yellow, Blue, Plum, Purple and Gold.

Bauer’s Dracaena. We are pleased to let you know that we will have
this colorful foliage for your garden this spring. We sell out of this plant
every year by about the fourth of July. For those of you not familiar with
the Bauer's Dracaena they are a burgundy version of a green spike dracaena or
cordyline.

Cannas.
Last year we started cultivating our own Cannas here in the Puget Sound
climate and our customers had great results with these beautiful plants. By
growing them here we can offer plants that are on our light and temperature
conditions, not the conditions of the Florida growers. These are a very
tropical perennial hardy to -20 degrees. The foliage is striking with green,
bronze and variegated leaves. Blooms are red, yellow, orange and pink with
many having a blend of these colors.
New for next year we will have more varieties
of leaf colors and patterns. This brings us up to about 20 different cannas
that we have to offer. We have the popular Pretoria Canna know for its
gorgeous foliage colors and striping.
